Dr. Rivera Torres was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and raised in Coamo, Puerto Rico.
He completed his studies in Computer Engineering at University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez in 2001. His Ph.D. was completed in 2017. For a list of degrees, see Education.
Dr. Rivera has worked in industry as an engineer for many years, and has also been involved in academia, part-time or full-time, since 2002.

He is the father of Pedro Alejandro and Ernesto Rafael. Son of Pedro (Nanín) and Carmen (Carmita). Grandson to “La mamá grande”, Dominga. And also “tío” to Sebi and Fernan. He is constantly avoiding the fact that sooner or later he will be “abuelo” to some hyperactive little kid.
He is an avid collector of music and media, books, and old tech. A complete nerd, in most of the traditional sense of the word. Contrary to popular belief, he does NOT have too many guitars, or too many musical instruments for that matter. Let’s not talk about that, shall we?
Music and reading are the joys of his life, but it is only through the smile of his children that he truly feels human. The rest of the time he is a grumpy old man. Well, the problem is that the Wizard did not give him a heart (the oppressing classes do not keep their promises).
